As a teacher, my goal is to develop the complete singing artist — one empowered with knowledge to make informed musical and dramatic choices and the technique to express them.
My approach to lessons is as individual as the student before me. We will work together to discover your musical goals and a good path to achieve them. A singer is not just a voice; they are a multi-faceted person. In our work together, you can expect to develop your singer’s mind and spirit as well as your vocal technique.
I am a fierce advocate for vocal cross-training and draw from a wide variety of pedagogical sources, from historical vocal pedagogy and bel canto classical technique to more contemporary styles. We develop our “singer’s toolbox” so that we feel prepared to tackle any musical challenge.
In my studio, there is no place for racism, homophobia, misogyny, transphobia, or ableism. We actively work to dismantle our prejudices and the systemic structures that prevent and obstruct our fellow humans from telling their own musical stories.
We sing to express, not impress — though that happens, too.
